Some personal property may qualify for an exemption or exclusion from property tax under North Carolina law if it meets specific statutory requirements. In most cases, property owners must apply for this relief for it to be considered.
Even if property may qualify as exempt or excluded, it is still required to be listed each year during the regular listing period. The exemption or exclusion is reviewed separately after an application is filed.
If you believe your property may qualify, or if you would like to request an application or learn more about the process and deadlines, please visit wake.gov/tax/exempt.
