Tag & Tax Together Program – Questions About Your Notice?
If you have questions about your NC Combined Vehicle Registration and Property Tax Notice, here’s who to contact:
Contact NC DMV (919-814-1779 or NCDMV Website)
For:
- Questions about the registration fee shown on your notice
- If you moved your vehicle out of Wake County and the taxing jurisdictions are incorrect
- If the license plate was transferred to another car
- If the vehicle is correct but now has a different license plate
- To obtain a statement of property taxes paid at registration
Contact Wake County Tax Administration (919-856-5400 or https://wake.gov/vehiclehelp)
For:
- To appeal the vehicle’s value (see Appealing Value)
- If the vehicle moved to a different taxing jurisdiction within Wake County not shown on the notice
- If you are active-duty military and your home of record is not North Carolina
You may disregard this notice if:
- You no longer own the vehicle and surrendered the plate to NCDMV
- You do not intend to register the vehicle in NC
(Note: If you own an unregistered vehicle on January 1, you must list it for taxation with Wake County each January.)
